Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to run a busy beauty salon?

Diamond Designs Uniforms sat down with Carla Chatburn, director of the Pure Perfection Beauty salons, to give us the low down on the day-to-day operations of a salon.

If you are aspiring to open your own beauty salon or work in the beauty industry, keep reading!

What is the first thing you do when you arrive at work in the morning?

The first thing I do in a morning in the salon is turn on all our rooms and equipment, turn on the aroma stones, heated treatment couches and create my daily ambience in the salon. Followed by a  flat white coffee, while checking my daily appointments and record cards. Then my day starts with confidence, clarity and effective time management for my team and salon to run smoothly.

What time does your salon open?

We open at 9am. However, as a rule, we are always there at least 30 minutes prior  so we are ready for our first 9am appointments with a smile.

What does a typical morning in your salon look like?

As we have a large client base are mornings are generally busy working with clients every hour. We all have digital access to our diaries so we all run well with treatment times and room set ups so the atmosphere is warm, inviting and professional. Our customers' journeys  are our number one priority - and our team of course!

Our salons are neutral toned for a relaxing environment and to suit all genders.

We always play relaxing music in our treatment rooms to add the  client experience. In our reception and nail room it's a little more upbeat though!

What would be your busiest day?

I would say our busiest day is a Thursday although our other locations are slightly different. We are open till 9pm for flexibility for our busy client but we do get to finish early on a Saturday. So, it’s a win win for us in salon with work life balance.

What is your most popular treatment?

We are a salon that offers a wide variety of services as your one stop beauty day spa. Our most popular services, though, are natural nail overlays, hydra dermabrasion facials and our signature full body massages.

What time do you usually leave?

We do open late two evenings of the week till 9pm. But, we have a great team work attitude that no one is left behind. So, we all pull together on the end of day tasks so we can all leave at 9pm together - sometimes a little earlier if we can.

Which Diamond Designs tunic is your favourite?

My absolute favourite  is the  Nicole tunic in brown linen. However, the team got to pick this time, and they have the Cara tunic in brown linen to match our salon ethos and style.
